On the surface, I am a double board-certified psychiatrist, health equity consultant, and mindset coach. I am a nationally renowned thought leader, a visionary, and a passionate advocate for health equity and social justice. I am uniquely qualified to empower Black, Indigenous, and Women of Color (BIWOC) leaders to redefine success and create healthier, more fulfilling lives. I am a lover of music, dance, singing, and reading. I am funny (if only in my mind) and love to laugh. A lot.
Turn the page, and you'll discover that I am a Women of Faith, Lover of God and grateful recipient of so many blessings. I am compassionate. I am someone who has always wanted to help people in difficult situations. I am a mentor and love to see others achieving their goals. I am an empathetic listener who really cares about what you have to say. I am absolutely and totally fascinated by the power of the mind and its impact on our well-being.
As the story unfolds, you'll learn that I have navigated the challenges of facing microaggressions, bias, and limited opportunities for advancement in predominantly white academic institutions. This experience taught me the true power of resilience, self-discovery, and purpose-driven leadership.
I am imperfect and am learning to embrace that every day through radical self-care and reflection.
I started coaching because I want to help BIWOC leaders break free from societal barriers, overcome burnout and impostor syndrome, and unleash their full potential. By empowering them to redefine success and create healthier, more fulfilling lives, I believe we can drive meaningful change and advocate for the mental health needs of underserved communities on a national scale.
I started coaching because I honestly believe I have the knowledge, skills, and experiences that can help you. With my multifaceted expertise spanning public/community psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, medical education, systems of care, trauma-informed care, social justice, diversity, health equity, inclusion, and mindset coaching, I have dedicated my career to championing initiatives for underserved women, children, adolescents, and families.
Drawing from the well of resilience inherited from our ancestors and historical knowledge, I understand completely what it takes to thrive as a BIWOC leader in today's world. Still, somehow, something stands in the way of what we know to do and what we actually do. I started coaching to find answers to why that is and to create solutions to bring what we want and what we do into closer alignment. I'm also someone who's made mistakes, experienced setbacks, and been through some hard times. I learned and am truly grateful for what those experiences taught me about myself. It is by working through those experiences that I found strategies and tools that really worked for me. I started coaching to offer the best of those strategies to you.
I'm Dr. Kimberly Gordon, and I'd love to get to know you. If you could relate to anything I've said, let me know!
